Transferring an existing domain involves changing the registrar that handles the domain registration service, so after the transfer, you will have to manage things like renewal payments or DNS entry modifications through the new domain name registrar. The transfer process itself is standard with most domain extensions. Certain country-code extensions are more specific and entail different procedures, but in the general case transferring a domain name entails several necessary steps and one of them is unlocking the domain name. The domain lock is a security feature, which is being adopted by more and more domain registry operators. It is a standard feature supported by all gTLDs. If a domain name is locked, it will be impossible to initiate a transfer process, so no one can even try to register your domain. The lock can be removed only through the account where the domain name is registered in the first place and all new domains that support this option are locked by default when they are registered.

Registrar Lock in Hosting

The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with each and every hosting plan that we offer, will grant you total command over your domain names. You’ll see all domain names registered through our company neatly displayed in alphabetical order in a separate section of the Control Panel. Those whose extensions support the domain lock option will have a mini padlock icon next to them. By clicking the icon, you can see if the given domain is locked or unlocked and you can update the present status by clicking once more – the procedure is as straightforward as that. You won’t have to wait for the update to take effect or for our company to do anything, as the status change takes effect instantaneously, even if you see something different on WHOIS lookup sites. After all, it takes time for such websites to update the info that they show.

Registrar Lock in Semi-dedicated Servers

Administering your domain names with our company is remarkably easy and the registrar lock feature is not an exception. In case you’ve got a semi-dedicated server account, you will be able to administer the domain names registered through our company using the same Control Panel via which you’ll administer your hosting account. For your convenience’s sake, the domain names will be shown in alphabetical order and on the right you will see a padlock-like icon in case the particular domain name supports the registrar lock feature. If you click on the icon, you’ll find out if the particular domain name is locked or not and you will be able to modify this status by clicking once again. The status will be changed momentarily and you will be able to initiate the transfer without the need to wait for the change to appear on WHOIS lookup websites or for our company to do anything on our end.
